What is Agnipath scheme?
Agnipath Yojana is a new scheme brought by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India for recruitment to the posts of Airman , Jawan, and Navik in all the three wings of the Indian air Force , Army, Navy respectively. After selection, these new jawans will be known as Agniveer and their tenure will be of 4 years. After 4 years, 25% of the jawans of the registered batch will be recruited back to their respective services for a period of 15 years. After completing 4 years of service, an Agniveer can be regularized in any part of the army only when they are governed by the regular rules of Junior Commissioned Officers or any other similar posts. after a succefull implemention this scheme other scheme or old procedure for recruitment in indian forces has been end automatically. Candidates whose age is between 17.5 years to 21 years can apply for recruitment under this scheme. However, this year (in 2022) the upper age limit has been relaxed by 2 years due to the hindrances in the recruitment process due to the corona global pandemic. That is, in 2022, candidates up to 23 years of age can also apply for this recruitment process. Applications will start from the month of July. Benefits of Agnipath Scheme /Yojana :
Agnipath scheme Yojana is for recruitment to the posts of Jawan, Airman and Navik in 3 wings of Indian Army, Army, Air Force and Navy respectively.
There is no provision for recruitment to the posts of officer rank in this scheme and whatever processes are currently going on for their recruitment will continue.
This year (in 2022), there is a target of recruiting 46,000 soldiers in all the three parts of the army. During the next 4-5 years, the target is to increase this number to 50-60 thousand and thereafter to 90,000 to 1,20,000 per year. As of December 2021, about 1 lakh posts of Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBOR) are vacant in the Army, 5000 in the Air Force and 11000 in the Navy due to the disruptions in the recruitment process due to the corona pandemic. Through this scheme, a target has been set to fill these posts at the earliest.
Firefighters recruited under Agneepath scheme will be given many different types of allowances and facilities apart from salary, in which traveling allowance, canteen facility which is already running will remain the same, uniform allowance, health related facilities etc. Apart from this, fire fighters will be able to get only 30 days leave and emergency medical leave as compared to now, if we talk about the ongoing scheme then they get 90 days leave.
After the completion of the service, the Agniveers who are recruited under the Agneepath scheme will be given a service fund package of Rs 11 lakh 71 thousand. During the service of 4 years, Agniveer will also get life insurance of 48 lakhs. Retired soldiers after 4 years of service will also be able to get jobs in other institutions according to the reservation quota. They will be provided with a skill certificate and bridge courses by the government.
As 25% of the soldiers are to be made permanent/regular under this scheme, the soldiers who will be regularized will be marked differently on their uniforms. With this, the soldiers and firemen who are already running can be easily identified separately.
Firefighters recruited under Agneepath will be administered an oath of secrecy under the Act 1923, which simply means that they should not share any army information with anyone while in service or after service.
