⭐ Vedanta announces interim dividend of ₹16 per share

Metal & mining major, Vedanta announced a second interim dividend for FY26 after market hours on August 21. The company's board approved a dividend of ₹16 per share, amounting to ₹6,256 crore. The record date for dividend payment has been fixed as August 27, 2025. Vedanta had approved the first interim dividend of ₹7 per share in June 2025. Read more

⭐ Railway stocks rise on order wins

Shares of railway-linked stocks such as Jupiter Wagons and RailTel were in the spotlight today. Jupiter Wagons stock rose 13% intraday after the company’s subsidiary received a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the supply of 5,376 wheelsets for the Vande Bharat train for an order value of approximately ₹215 crore. Railtel Corporation Of India stock rose over 4% after securing two new orders totaling ₹50.42 crore from government agencies in Odisha and Kerala. Read more

⭐ BSE shares fall over 7% on SEBI remarks

Shares of BSE Ltd and other broking service providers were under pressure today. Shares of BSE declined 7.6% after SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said market regulator is planning to increase the tenure and maturity of equity derivatives contracts as well as looking to deepen volumes in the cash market. Read more

⭐ Ola Electric shares fall 8.3% after VAHAN data release

Shares of Ola Electric Mobility declined 8.3% to close at ₹48.7 per share on NSE after a two-day rally. The stock price tumbled from its 3-month high after VAHAN registration data showed Ola Electric trailing rival Ather Energy in August sales. As of August 20, Ola Electric had recorded 9,522 registrations, compared with 10,248 for Ather Energy. If the current trend continues, Ola Electric's market share is set to slip below that of Ather Energy.

Sensex and Nifty : On the weekly expiry day, Nifty opened with a gap up; however, there was no significant follow-up buying after the opening. The index traded in a choppy session within a 100-point range and eventually ended with a modest gain of 0.15%, closing just below the 25,100 mark.

• Sector Performance : Sectoral rotation remains evident, with a different sector taking the lead each day. Today, pharma stocks stood out, snapping a three-day losing streak and recouping nearly all of their recent losses.

• Global Market Impact : U.S. markets had a disappointing session overnight, led by weakness in the tech-heavy Nasdaq. This bearish sentiment spilled over into both Asian and European markets, with regional indices trading in the red.
